Coffee is categorized as “an herbal stimulant.” Herbal stimulants increase metabolism, circulation, break up obstructions, and warm the body. Studies continue to reveal other health benefits of coffee: if taken in moderation (2 to 4 cups a day), coffee may lower your risk of colon cancer by up to 25% and may reduce the risk of developing kidney stones, Parkinson’s disease, skin cancer, and gallstones. People who suffer from asthma can experience 25% fewer symptoms by drinking coffee because caffeine can open up the bronchial passages in the lungs.

Recent studies performed all over the world from Amsterdam to Harvard University also suggest that drinking caffeinated coffee lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes by more than 50%. With so many millions of American suffering from type 2 diabetes, the implications of these studies are staggering because diabetes can lead to heart disease, strokes, and other disabilities. Researchers have just scratched the surface on the health benefits of coffee.

It is well known that coffee can help “jump start” your day, but did you know that it may also improve physical stamina? The International Olympic Committee prohibits the use of more than seven cups within 3 hours before Olympic events.

Coffee may also help you stay trim. Studies show that coffee may increase the number of calories you burn per hour by 4%.

Arabica beans, by the way, have about half the caffeine of Robusta beans. The word comes from the brewing  method -- hot water is pressed by means of a piston or pump through finely ground, firmly packed coffee.

Drip: A regular coffee

Shot in the Dark: A regular coffee with a shot of espresso in it. Also called a Speed Ball.
